Word on the street: Food, housing and rent increases swaying local votes

We've been speaking with people across Melbourne's eastern suburbs about what issues will be swaying their vote ahead of this year's federal election.

We’ve been hitting the pavement recently as part of our ongoing work to hear what locals think about which issues are impacting them most and what political parties, MPs and candidates should be doing about them.

Our contributor Joey Robertson visited Chadstone and Oakleigh recently to talk with locals, with our newest interview now live with a young man in Oakleigh.

He said he would scrutinise each party and their policies on putting pressure on corporations engaging in price gouging.

“I just think it’s ridiculous people have to pay $500, $600 a fortnight for groceries,” he said.
