"Devoid of all care": Who's responsible for Knox’s “atrocious” median strips?
From median strips blocking views to vegetation starting to grow onto the road, Knox residents are calling for more action.

Overgrown median strips have become a significant bugbear for local residents, with Knox Council joining the call for the State Government to step up.
A local reader tipped the Eastern Melburnian off to the “atrocious” state of some median strips across Knox, particularly along Ferntree Gully Road and Kelletts Road in Rowville.
We popped down there for a look and were shocked to see matted grass seemingly left for months on end.
After seeking comment from Knox Council, they responded with a media release they had distributed in November, in which they specified that the roads were managed by VicRoads. Following concerns expressed by the community, they promised they would be writing to Roads Minister Melissa Horne and other key MPs on the matter.
We have reached out to VicRoads but have yet to receive a response. We will aim to reach out to Ms Horne and other MPs, as well as Knox mayor Lisa Cooper, for their views.
