Police allegedly seize more than 100kg of drugs in eastern suburbs
The haul allegedly included about 120kg of 1,4 Butanediol (aka “bute”) and more than 5kg of methylamphetamine.

Police have allegedly found more than 100kg of “drugs of dependence” and “a large quantity of cash” while searching a number of properties across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
Police say they executed search warrants last Thursday (April 10) at what they alleged was “an active Clandestine Laboratory” on Whitehorse Road in Box Hill, and at an address on Botanic Place in Wantirna South.
Detectives from the Major Drug Squad and Clandestine Laboratory Squad allegedly seized large quantities of drugs of dependence and proceeds of crime, including:
About 5.5kg of methylamphetamine;
About 120kg of 1,4 Butanediol (aka “bute”);
Further methylamphetamine in various stages of production;
Equipment and chemicals used to manufacture drugs;
Commercial quantities of heroin;
A large quantity of cash;
A small amount of illicit tobacco and vapes;
A commercial cash counting machine; and
Two vehicles – a Volvo and a Mercedes.
Police also executed a further three warrants on Friday (April 11) in Box Hill North and Glen Waverley, with detectives allegedly locating ecstasy, methylamphetamine, illicit tobacco and hydraulic presses with moulds used to prepare drugs for sale.
Police arrested a 40-year-old Wantirna South man and charged him with trafficking large commercial quantities of drugs of dependence and possessing equipment to traffic drugs of dependence.
He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on August 14.
